September 11, 2010- 5K Polka Pace Race

The Polka Pace Race is a 5K run through the streets of Havana, including a jaunt through our scenic Riverfront Park and down our historic brick streets. The race is part of the annual Oktoberfest Celebration and will take place on September 11, 2010 at 8:00 AM. The Polka Pace race will feature a new and improved course this year.

$19.00 for members of the SRRC (if registered by August 31, 2010)
$10.00 for all kids 10 and under
$25.00 after August 31, 2010

About the Race
The Shoreline Classic is the premier Road Race in downstate Illinois. This event draws hundreds of runners and spectators from across the state of Illinois. The race provides both a competitive and recreational event for athletes while promoting the value of living a healthy lifestyle. The 5K and 15K races are run along the shores of beautiful Lake Decatur in a colorful fall setting. The 5K race offers runners a fast course, while the 15K features a rolling terrain.

Lodging/Special Room Rates
Special Room Rate of $75/night offered at Country Inn & Suites for Shoreline Classic participants. Deadline for the rate is September 1st with a 24 hour cancellation policy. Located at 5250 Hickory Point Frontage Road, (Near HWY 51 & I-72). Phone (217) 872-2402.

Kroger Post Race Party
The Kroger Post Race Prty will feature food, energy drinks, music, and awards ceremony. Enjoy a range of different food items including sandwiches, fruit, and specialty items from Ray’s Chilli.

Time Limits
In an effort to work with the community, we have to enforce a 12 minute/mile pace on the 15K course only. This translates to an approximate time of 1:50:00.

November 7, 2010- Canal Connection 10K

The Starved Rock Runners, Ltd. running clubs wants to invite all Springfield Road Runner Club members to participate in Canal Connection XXVIII. This is a point-to-point race that starts in LaSalle, IL and finishes in Utica, IL. The race is ran mostly on the I & M Canal Towpath. Parking is available at the finish line (Utica) and buses tranport runners to the start line (LaSalle). Everyone MUST be on the buses by 10:15 AM. There will be an inside area in LaSalle for cover, water, and toilet facilities.

This is a Springdield Road Runners Cluc points series race.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK-UP

Registration and packet pick-up will be at the elementary school in Utica, IL from 8:15 AM to 10:30 AM the day of the race. All runners must register/check-in at the school in Utica. The school is located at 248 W. Canal Street in Utica.

RACE BONUS

A newly designed sweatshirt will be available to all paid registrants

MISCELLANEOUS

Bandits, dogs, wheeled vehicles, strollers and/or headsets will not be available. Showers will not be available at the school.
