What time and where on Saturday do you meet? Is there a specific registration for the 1/22 marathon training?

  2. Jenni G says:

Janet, each week, we try to meet at different locations to keep the routes interesting. Keep an eye on the blog for the latest updates. This week, we meet at Washington Park pavilion for 6 miles.

My miles are not up that high because it has been so cold, lately…is it OK if I am a little slow the first week???
What time do we meet at the pavillion?

  4. Chuck says:

    Jeannie,
It looks like they are meeting at 7 am. If you dont have your mileage up for 5 miles, its understandable due to cold weather. Dont worry about being too slow anyways. The route is in the park via looping it twice so you wont get lost. Plus this week is technically a couple of weeks ahead of schedule for the training of the half marathoners. So get what you can in, but I am sure you can make the 5 miles.

Sorry to bail on you guys on the first Saturday, but the roads were really slick – I ran on my own – glad it was 5 and not 6! Have a great week – see you all Saturday!

I am looking for a certified running coach in the Springfield area. I checked the RRCA site, but they did not list anyone for Springfield. I looked into some online coaching options, but am leary. I welcome any recommendations.
I am training with the HWx2, but would also like to work with a coach 1:1.
    Thanks–Sandy

    Sandra,
I would like to talk with you about your interest in having a trainer/coach. I am a certified personal trainer and a competitive runner. If you would like to discuss what your goals are and see if I would be a good fit for you send me an email: joyguardia@yahoo.com.

I am interested in joining and training for the Illinois Marathon. I am really leary as not sure if anyone takes walk breaks or not. So, since I live an hour a way didn’t want to not fit in. what is the training like.

  9. Jenni G says:

Rosie, there are all kinds of paces in our group. I’m sure you will be able to find people to run with. Give us a try and see how it goes! You won’t regret running with our group, everyone is very supportive.

  10. Rosie says:

Thanks so much. How do I know when you meet and how can I join

  11. admin says:

Rosie, check out the link in the article above to the Half Wits X2 blog. There you will find the schedule, meeting places, times, etc. I think you will find plenty of people taking walk breaks (myself included). It’s a great program. If you have more questions, post them here or over on the blog.

    Rosie,

This will be my first Saturday with the group – I walk when I get tired, especially since I have been very lax and need this group to kick my butt! Let’s just have fun!
