Jim noted there were no advertising fees annotated in the treasurer’s report. However, there are ads in the newsletter. Mike received some invoices which he is unsure who needs to be reimbursed.
Jim C. noted that there were very few returns of the newsletter because of incorrect addresses. Cris Martin has not been receiving her newsletter according to Derek. Arlee will check for her membership.
Mike will be filing the income taxes for SRRC tomorrow. Motion was made and seconded to accept the treasurer’s report. All approved.
Jim C. noted the Windy City Sports magazine has a very favorable article about the Lincoln Memorial Run. An article regarding the Lake Run was also included in the Windy City Sports. Lincoln Memorial was described as a “first class event”.
Note from Dean Rademaker was discussed. Mr. Rademaker expressed his displeasure about not winning his Age group award. Mr. Rademaker did not fulfill the volunteer requirement in order to be eligible for the Age group award. Therefore, Don Egan won the Age Group award outright.
One complaint was received regarding Tuesday night running during the Civil War reenactment in the cemetery. Runners will be asked to change the route while running in the cemetery.
Three scholarships applications were received. Deadline is May 15, 2007.
Jim D. is a featured speaker for Marathon 101 seminar for May 16, 2007 at Athleticare.
Marathon training program will be starting in June. The runs will begin at 7 AM at the Lost Bridge trail.
Barb B. discussed the upcoming SRRC social calendar. Social for June 3, 2007 will be a bike ride on Sunday afternoon.
July will be the golf outing at Long Bridge Golf Course. Emily is busy working on the details.
The August social is being arranged for Floyd’s Thirst Pub back room. The date will be August 4, 2007. Pizza may be ordered for those in attendance.
Barb B. will be contacting John Gee for scheduling of Monster Mash 2008 speaker.
Jan W. stated that we are short on scorers. Barb B. suggested existing scorers train other people. Tim Butler will be training additional people for scoring of races.
Jan W. said we need to recognize our existing scorers for the good work they have done and continue to do.
Women’s Distance Festival and Parade run will be scored by Tom Cooper.
Mercury Sports, race results technology scoring company, may be an option for scoring. It offers chip timing on a radio frequency system.
Jan W. stated that the race committee meeting was sparsely attended. Jan W., Laura Sayers, and Jim Dahlquist were in attendance. Nothing will be brought to the SRRC board until more committee members are present for a meeting.
Scott Leopald will be taking over the Membership Directorship for 2008. Brent Leach will be groomed for the Treasurer’s position for 2008.
Nyle asked for input for the newsletter. He gave the extra May newsletter to whoever wanted copies for individuals who did not receive the latest edition.
Try-the-Tri results will be given to Nyle from the website by Chuck C. Nyle will be obtaining race results from several recent races to be posted in the newsletter.
New business: Certification of race courses. Jim C. does not feel the certification of courses is needed for our races because they are not qualifiers for any national races. The cost for certification is not warranted at this time. If a race director is adamant about certifying the course, s/he may approach the board to discuss it. Motion made to leave “as is” and not certify courses at this time.
Mass email will be sent to Abe’s Army regarding updates and packet pickups. This information is also on the web site.
Meeting adjourned at 6:20 PM.
