38th Annual Black Diamond Days 5k

Additional Info: The 38th Annual Black Diamond Days 5k run will be in benefit of Charlie Pohlman. Charlie graduated from Gillespie High School in 1974 and became of the top area runners in the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. He founded the Black Diamond Days 5k in 1982. Recently, Charlie has been diagnosed with ALS. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Pohlman family. Cost: Early Registration 5k – $20 1 Mile – $20 Race Day Registration 5K – $25 1 Mile – $25 Each participant will receive a race shirt. Additional Info: The Friends of the Old Millstadt Water Tower are having the inaugural Millstadt Half Marathon & 5K for the restoration and preserving the old water tower. The organization is a non-profit 501(c)3 charity. The half marathon is a course that has rolling hills and a few steep hills that will take you on mostly country back roads with scenic farms, fields, and trees. The 5K is a flat out and back on a mostly country road. All half marathon finishers will receive a commemorative glass beer stein. Dash Against Discrimination Color-a-thon

Additional Info: Join us for our second Dash Against Discrimination Color-a-thon on June 10th! The Dash is a fun-filled 5K run and 1 mile run/walk where participants will be blasted with color all along the course, beginning and ending at GE Union Park. Before the Dash, be sure to join us for our Awareness Fair, where you will have the opportunity to learn about different cultural/ethnic groups and organizations right here in Bloomington-Normal. Each group/organization will have a booth set up with information for you to learn more about YWCA’s community neighbors. All funds raised will help support YWCA Mission Impact programming to end all forms of discrimination. The Mission Impact program seeks to address social justice issues in our community and society by providing educational opportunities to the public, building strong partnerships with other organizations, engaging grassroots community members in our efforts, and creating opportunities for our community to work towards the greater good. YWCA strives to be a space where people can learn about social justice and put their values into action through programs such as Reading to End Racism, Equal Pay Coalition, and Humanity Summit. Pre-registration for the Dash is required. Robert’s Run for Dyslexia 5K/1Mile Walk

A former cross country runner started this race as his Eagle Scout project in 2014. He wanted to give back to the center that helped him overcome reading, spelling and writing difficulties. Robert Lawrence, graduated high school in 2016 with high honors and a spot in the National Honor Society. Currently he is attending a junior college with a psychology major, and future plans are to transfer to a 4 year school in Chicago and major in environmental sustainability. Robert continues to promote this race and wants to spread awareness of dyslexia and inform the community that it affects up to 1 in 5 people. Specific training is needed for students with dyslexia to learn and overcome their difficulties. The Peoria Tazewell Dyslexia Awareness

The Friends of the Sangamon Valley (FOSV), a 501(c)(3) organization will use all funds locally to continue the education, preservation, protection and restoration of prairies, wetlands and woodlands in central Illinois. The run/walk will start at 8am, with dri-fit long sleeve t-shirt and packet pick up at 7am. There will be entertainment and food as well. 2nd Annual Belleville Main Street Marathon

Additional Info: Run a portion of America’s longest Main Street during this marathon-only race on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in historic Belleville, IL, near downtown St. Louis.
