The Springfield Road Runners Club has a variety of programs supporting the local running community of Springfield Illinois. Below is a list of some of the currently offered programs:
Half-Wits Training Group – A winter/spring training group targeting the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon in April. This group will meet regularly from January to April downtown Springfield (and all over Springfield). It’s a great way to get in those long runs early in the season.
Abe’s Army – A guided 12-week training program for everyone from beginners hoping to complete their first 10k to the experienced racers hoping for a 10k personal record. The culmination of the 12-week program is the Abe’s Amble 10k Race at the Illinois State Fair. Runs May through August.
Frost Toes Training Group – This training group will keep you motivated throughout the fall when the temperatures start dropping and the sun starts setting earlier. At the end of this training, you’ll be prepared to tackle the Frostbite Festival, a challenging but fun 10 mile race. October to December.
Triple Crown – Complete this challenge & you will receive recognition with fellow challengers in an awards presentation after the Frostbite Classic, a goody bag with GREAT prizes and a free entry into the Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon.
SRRC Scholarship – Each year the Springfield Road Runners Club awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who have participated in cross country, track, and/or road races. Up to five scholarships in various amounts will be awarded.
Beyond the above listed programs, there are regularly occurring runs that are individually planned by SRRC members. Please consider joining the SRRC Members Facebook Group to learn about some of these groups and interact with current SRRC Members.
