Karen Rogers was an All-State High School runner in both track and cross country in Iowa and continued running in her home state at Wartburg College where she was a Division III National Championship Track Qualifier in the 1500 and the 4×400. Based on those achievements along with her exceptional collegiate cross country career Karen was inducted into the Wartburg College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
In her post collegiate running career Karen posted the following personal bests: Mile=4.54, 5K=17:30, 8k=28:45, 10k=36:10 and Marathon=3:11. Her many victories on the road include wins at the Women’s Distance Festival, Lincoln Memorial and Abe’s Amble. Karen was named SRRC Female Runner of the Year numerous times throughout the 1990s.
Karen also coached cross country at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School for several years, passing on her knowledge and passion for the sport of distance running to high school athletes. Karen now has the privilege of doing the same thing with her two wonderful children, Lindsay and Michael, who are already accomplished runners themselves.
