November 2018 - Club News Briefs
With only two more races left on our club schedule, our running season is wrapping up! That doesn't mean group runs and socials are wrapping up though! We have lots of stuff on the calendar for you to mix it up with other club members!
Here's what's going on with SRRC this coming month:
Let's get SOCIAL!!
Lots of different things coming up in the next few months for SRRC members to get together. Mark your calendars and plan to attend! You can check on what's going on at any time throughout the year at www.srrc.net/calendar
Cold Duck Run (11/22/2018) A long tradition continues Thanksgiving morning from 7:30 am until 11:00 am--the Cold Duck Run. Join club members for fun, fellowship, food, and some running too! Bring a potluck breakfast treat and/or beverage to share with your fellow runners. The run will start around 8 a.m. SRRC has paid for the Springfield Park District to set up and start a fire to keep warm before and after. Read more about the event: www.srrc.net/coldduck
Medal Mixer (12/13/2018) And FrostToes Celebration! Wear your favorite medal and come celebrate with us! This is also a Toys for Tots event, so please bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate. Light appetizers will be provided. Registration is FREE for SRRC members, but we need you to register.
Annual Banquet and Awards (01/26/2019) Mark your calendars for the annual banquet! From the member survey feedback, we're trying something new for this year. There will be more time for socializing with each other and no guest speaker. Yes, we'll still need to do the membership meeting and annual awards, but we'll keep those as brief as possible. We'll provide more information and registration in an upcoming news brief.

Volunteering
We need your help to lead the club in 2019! Do you have a knack for technology? We're looking for a new technical director to keep the website updated. Or are you interested in helping to coordinate a program like Abe's Army? If you have interest in helping the club in an administrative or organization capacity, please contact Nick Fogleman at sn95nik@gmail.com for more information.
Don't forget that volunteering for at least two club races is a requirement for qualifying in the SRRC Points Series and you get participation points as well. Since this club operates completely on volunteers, we appreciate your help! The registration for volunteering for Frostbite is officially open! Use the race registration link on their webpage to sign up for a spot.
217 (2-RUN-7) Shopping!
The 2-RUN-7 club gear is IN! We do have some extra inventory if you missed didn't pre-order a shirt, hoodie, car magnet or sticker. Watch for shopping opportunities online and at the pickup stops. We just received the shirts back from the printers, so we haven't been able to inventory yet. Next week, there will be more info available on our website and Facebook page about the pickups and shopping events.
We love seeing our "team" jerseys all over town! Proceeds will help promote running in central Illinois!
